Lincolnshire-based couple, Bob and Elaine Etchell, were devastated when the day came to say goodbye to their beloved Weimaraner, Bart, and several months later they realised that they were really missing having a dog around and decided it was time to find a new addition to their family.
They spotted Harvey, a six-year-old Great Dane, on the Daneline International website, a charitable foundation that rescues Great Danes and puts them with foster carers until a permanent home can be found.
The couple travelled to Liverpool to meet Harvey at his foster home and instantly fell in love with this huge but gentle giant and he travelled home with them to Lincolnshire.
Harvey took a little while to settle in to his unfamiliar surroundings but eventually began to get used to life in his new home. He is quite playful and his favourite game is anything that involves having a football to burst!
Said Bob: “Harvey is very good natured and well-behaved when we go out walking. We have done some training with him so that he stops and comes back to us when we call him if he’s off the lead. He just loves to run and especially likes to be in long grass where he bears a very close resemblance to a lioness!”
Giant breeds such as Great Danes can be predisposed to joint issues due to their size and as Harvey is quite an active dog, Bob decided to put him on VetSpec’s new Omega-3 Joint Mobility + Gravy to help keep his mobility in good health. As he is a bit of a fussy eater, Bob thought he would enjoy the gravy format of the new product too.
Said Bob: “The VetSpec Omega-3 Joint Mobility + Gravy is a great idea. It is very palatable and Harvey really loves it, but he’s a bit quirky and he prefers it in a separate bowl to his food. He laps it up with relish! It’s much easier than feeding a supplement in powder or tablet format if you have a dog that can be a bit faddy.”
VetSpec Omega-3 Joint Mobility + Gravy provides a high level of active ingredients including generous levels of the omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA, along with glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM to optimise joint health and flexibility, and antioxidants to help reduce oxidative damage.
It has been specially designed to produce a delicious gravy when mixed with warm water, which can be poured over a dog’s food. Extensive palatability trials have been enormously successful when mixed with either dry or wet food, tempting even the pickiest feeders to enjoy their meal and joint supplement.
