Christmas has come and gone, and I bought Alan a doggie treadmill, as he’s currently studying to be a small animal physiotherapist. He has already had all of our dogs on there, looking at their gait and it is helping him in the research that he is doing. It’s a very useful tool to help us keep our dogs fit, but obviously will never replace taking them for a walk.
There seem to have been lots of television programmes about dogs and dog training lately and now everyone seems to want to join training classes, which is really good news. All of our classes are currently full to capacity and I’m currently keeping a waiting list, plus I’m also now taking classes at several other clubs in the Midlands so I’m keeping busy, busy, busy!
I’ve also been very busy organising events. We’ve just had our Smart Chance Agility Show at Onley Grounds Equestrian Centre. We are privileged to be the first dog club to be allowed to use these fabulous indoor equestrian facilities for an agility show. We got such positive feedback from the competitors, judges and helpers that we are looking to book another date with them for next winter.
On top of that I’m currently organising Agility Demo Teams for the Camping and Caravan Club Show next weekend and for Crufts in March.
We really could use a club sponsor, as the team would look so much better in club/sponsored polo shirts. As these will be high profile annual events had better start looking now.
The last event I’m currently organising is a Kennel Club Accredited Agility Judges Seminar, to train judges up for agility shows. Without new judges to keep coming through, we would not be able to run shows, so this really is an important job.
It’s only February and I already feel it’s going to be a fantastic year training and agility-wise. Our dogs are fit and ready to take on some competitions, I can’t wait for the agility season to start properly as Bertie has already done a bit of winning in January.
